Types of Nissan Keys We Replace and Program
Nissan vehicles span a wide range of key types depending on the model year and trim level. Older models — think early 2000s Altimas, Frontiers, and Xterras — often use a basic metal key with no chip, or a simple transponder key that pairs with the ignition immobilizer. Mid-generation models introduced remote head keys that combine a chip-cut key blade with an integrated fob for door locks. More recent Nissan and Infiniti models use the Intelligent Key system, which allows push-button start and proximity entry without ever removing the key from your pocket.
Each generation requires a different approach. A basic cut key just needs the right blank and a precise cut on our code-cutting machine. A transponder key must also be programmed to your car's ECU so the immobilizer recognizes it. An Intelligent Key fob requires both frequency pairing and immobilizer programming. We carry a broad inventory of Nissan-compatible key blanks and OEM-grade fob shells, and our programming tools support current Nissan and Infiniti platforms, so we can handle the job on-site rather than asking you to arrange a tow to a dealership.
